The 2021 Online Broadway Student Summit will include:

ACTING WORKSHOPS AND A SELF TAPE with Broadway Associate Director Danny Sharron (Dear Evan Hansen). In this workshop, you will learn how to prepare a monologue or audition scene through easy-to-follow, simple steps that will bring vibrancy and truth to your acting. Danny will also discuss how to select material that highlights your unique humanity, humour, and personality! Then, you will create your own self-tape (video audition) and submit it to the teaching artist to receive written feedback.

MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITION CLASS with Anastasia star Christy Altomare. This class takes us through a typical audition, breaking down the process of preparation, working with an accompanist, song interpretation and selection, and editing the right song for your vocal range. A guest Broadway star will join us to illustrate their best audition songs, how they selected and prepared them, what shows they have booked (and not booked!) with them, and how they deal with the roller coaster ride of a Broadway audition.

VOCAL CLASS with Broadway Music Director Ben Cohn (Dear Evan Hansen). Using the actual audition cuts from Dear Evan Hansen, this workshop will help you approach a song from a musical perspective and explore various methods for sounding your best.

BROADWAY DANCE with Brandon Hudson from Netflix’s The Prom. Step into the chorus line as Brandon teaches you a combination from the show and takes you through the Broadway dance audition experience. Perform it on your own TIK TOK VIDEO!

PATH TO BROADWAY with Patti Murin, star of Broadway’s Frozen! In this session, she will share her personal experiences, professional advice, and great backstage stories. The session will also include a Q&A with the Disney star!

CREATIVITY, MINDFULNESS AND MANAGING ANXIETY with Alicia Albright (Frozen, Wicked). Learn tips and techniques to manage everyday anxiety and stage fright while freeing your creative spirit to do your best work!

You’ll also get a Broadway warm-up each day and a final day costume and trivia party with Patrick O’Neill (School of Rock)!
