Australian First Nations Grant for Film Creatives

Posted by Sydney Film Festival | May 13, 2021

Submissions are now open for the Deutsche Bank Fellowship, a new grant for Australian First Nations film creatives launched by Sydney Film Festival and Deutsche Bank.

The winning Fellow will be awarded a $20,000 grant to further develop their skills through international placement or other professional development.

Darren Dale, Sydney Film Festival Board Member, director of Blackfella Films, and award-winning producer said, “Sydney Film Festival is proud to be working with Deutsche Bank to offer this incredible opportunity to First Nations film creatives.” He encourages all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander film creatives who have already started a career in any discipline, currently based in Australia to apply.

The Fellowship is an important investment in developing and nurturing the talents of local creatives and enhancing global awareness of Australia’s vibrant First Nations filmmaking talent. Sydney Film Festival partner, Deutsche Bank are delighted to support aspiring artists and play a role in showcasing First Nations creatives within the industry.

Deutsche Bank has held a longstanding commitment to the arts in Australia, including partnering with Sydney Contemporary, the Biennale of Sydney and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Australia.

Applications are welcomed from eligible craft-persons, screenwriters, producers, directors and actors with a proven track record in their chosen field.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an interview in July to discuss their proposal.

The successful candidate will be selected by a panel of key industry personnel, and the Fellowship will be awarded at the 68th Sydney Film Festival, which will take place 18-29 August 2021.

Submissions for the Deutsche Bank Fellowship are open till 18 July 2021. Apply now
