AMTA: Creating Cabaret Course

Envision yourself taking 12 weeks to create your very own cabaret show. Sprinkle in some of Australia’s best cabaret talent breaking down those all important details and helping you flesh out those toe tapping, song belting, rib tickling ideas you just KNOW belong on stage.

Cabaret Legend Queenie van de Zandt has wrangled 30 of Australia’s biggest and brightest cabaret stars to deliver her ground-breaking Australian Musical Theatre Academy course Creating Cabaret.

Such a plethora of sessions to attend: From Marvellous Marketing with Catherine Alcorn, Putting on a Show with Rhonda Burchmore and getting those all important Grants with Maeve Marsden and more. 16 masterclasses delivered online over 12 weeks will set you on the path to write, produce and perform your own cabaret show.

The course is limited to 30 participants – to create a truly intimate deep dive into learning for those who snap up their places.

Cabaret is traditionally performed to smaller audiences with a smaller production costs and is being touted as the perfect post-pandemic offering being programmed at Festivals and Arts Centres in 2021/2022. Queenie states, “There has never been a better time for you to create that show you’ve been thinking about for years!”

Queenie van de Zandt is a true powerhouse of the Australian stage with a long list of awards and nominations for her work including the 2018 GLUG Award for Most Outstanding Cabaret Performance for BLUE: The Songs of Joni Mitchell and the 2017 Broadway World – Sydney Awards for Best Cabaret Performance and Best Cabaret for BLUE: The Songs of Joni Mitchell.
