The Matilda Awards are an annual event that honour and celebrate the achievements of the QLD theatre industry. Last week indelabilityarts were the deserving winners of the Matilda Award for Best Independent Production for Wilbur the Optical Whale. Considering Wilbur had also been awarded the Adelaide Fringe Weekly Innovation Award and Overall Access Award, this production is one to watch!

Wilbur the optical Whale is an immersive & enchanting journey under the sea. Employing art forms including circus, interactive visuals and sound design, young audiences take a deep-sea sensory dive to meet Wilbur and his cheeky friends.

Written by core ensemble member Karen Lee Roberts, indelabiltyarts collaborated with Flipside Circus, and artists Clint Bolster and Elise Greig to bring this story to life. With the support of Qld Arts Showcase Program Funding (QASP) through the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (JWCoCA).
