APATA Podcast: Ultimate Music Theory with Glory St Germain

Apr 7, 2021

Meet Glory St Germain

Founder and creator of the Ultimate Music Theory programs and The Global Healing Power of Music Summit.

A little history

For Glory St Germain and her siblings learning to play music was introduced pretty early and became as natural as learning to walk and talk.

However that not everyone has that kind of early introduction to music.

When Glory first started teaching music to young children, she found the resources were quite challenging for them.

Best way to deal with that problem? Glory became an author, writing a program for learning music that captured all stages, no matter the style.

Ultimate Music Theory lessons proved so popular that Glory became an internationally recognised authority and speaker. She has delivered her program and research to educators at conferences and conventions all around the world.

What were the problems that Glory needed to solve for teachers?

  • How do you teach music theory?
  • How can we generate income from teaching?
  • How do we communicate effectively and understand our student’s learning style?

Glory’s aha moment.

Helping people to teach music theory effectively was the lightbulb moment for Glory.

“I realised how important it is to know about visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners and the communication skills that we have. It’s not something that we necessarily talk about and yet we all need them. We need to know how can we communicate effectively and I don’t care if you’ve been teaching for 20mins or 20years. You can always learn: NEPD – Never Ending Professional Development and I continue to learn to this day. And that’s why we really teach teachers how to become more effective communicators with NLP. [Neuro Linguistic Programming]”

Incorporating Neuro Linguistic Programing [NLP] into her teacher education has been paramount to the success of their students’ learning capabilities.

NLP = Understanding how people think and how you need to communicate to get the results you need.

The 3 types of learners.

  1. Visual
  2. Auditory
  3. Kinesthetic

When you engage in these three modalities as a teacher your students will learn faster.

“If a student can’t learn from the way you teach, maybe you should teach the way the child learns.”
