WIN BIG WITH YOUR SHORT FILM!
PerthNow, SAE launch Best Australian Short Film Competition.
Filmmakers across the country will have the chance to compete for a share of $75,500 as part of a new short film competition launched last week.
Established by PerthNow, in partnership with SAE Creative Media Institute, the Best Australian Short Film Competition invites both emerging and established filmmakers nationwide to submit their original short films for the chance to share in the prize pool, currently the richest in the country.
The competition offers a cash first prize of $30,000, as well as scholarship opportunities, with selected films also screening on the PerthNow website.
The distinguished panel of judges for the awards includes: former Foxtel story producer and SAE film and animation course director, Dr Teresa Rizzo; acclaimed WA director, Zak Hilditch; Gold Logie-nominated Indigenous actor, Mark Coles Smith; award-winning director, Nel Minchin; Home and Away star and awarded playwright, Kirsty Marillier; and Perth Festival film curator, Tom Vincent.
Entries for The Best Australian Short Film Competition are now open, inviting filmmakers to submit their shorts in the following categories:

YOUR CAMERA, YOUR STORY, YOUR CHOICE – THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC THEMES.
Just as long as it’s under 10 minutes (including credits and titles) and produced after July 1 2022, it’s good to go.
Entry is FREE. You’ve got nothing to lose, and you could share in a prize pool worth over $75,000.
WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FEBRUARY 29, 2024!
Entries for the SAE Emerging Talent Prize close 7:00pm January 5, 2024 AWST and for all other categories 7:00pm January 22, 2024 AWST.
