The AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things (the AWESOME Festival) is presented annually in the Perth CBD.
Over the years the AWESOME Festival has firmly established itself as the premier event for families and schools on Western Australia’s cultural calendar, has been lovingly crafted and shaped by many dedicated and wise hands along the way and is recognised by an international festival monitoring organisation as one of the top 25 events in the world for young people.
The Festival showcases a spectacular array of events including theatre, dance, early childhood activities, music, film, literature, visual arts and creative hands-on activities.
AWESOME is committed to presenting high-quality, layered programming for children aged 0 – 12 and their families.

2021 AWESOME International Arts Festival presents Sensory Storytime with Sensorium Theatre
Sensorium Theatre’s Sensory Storytelling provides children with disability and/or access needs and their families with a multi-sensory reading of their favourite stories and rhymes.
Through music and sensory play, everyone participates in these interactive sessions.
The Art of Clowning Workshop with Hardey McMurrick
What does it take to be a clown? Crazy clothes? Being funny? Being silly?
Well all of this and so much more!
In “The Art of Clowning” kids will discover how to play like a clown, how to create funny characters, the classic clown roles and how they relate to each other, how to perform a clown routine and even how to create one!
African Dance workshop with Isaac Adebisi
Isaac’s fun-tastic Afro Dance class will bring energy to children in a mood-boosting session. You will learn popular African dances like Gwara in South Africa to Tanzania’s Kanyaga.
This workshop is a journey that allows participants to experience dance through energy and movement.
West Australian Opera presents Koolbardi wer Wardong, West Australian Ballet showcases Peter and the Wolf; Born in a Taxi bring the slapstick with The Whale’s tale; Josh Earl’s Human.Kind. is comedy for kids; KoBugs Theatre Company gets cheeky with Blinky Bill on the Loose; Adam Kelly and his FRINGEWORLD award-winning show about living with autism; Windmill Theatre Company and Hiccup; Sandy McKendrick & Jenny Hill with Indigo Sand: Musical concerts and more…
There are acting classes, game shows and a plethora of multi-media workshops taking you through fabric printing, anthropomorphism illustration to book making and so much more, and more and more!!!!
