Scattered, the first web series to be funded by both Screen Australia and Film Victoria for TikTok, launched last month.
Produced by Hayley Adams and Michelle Melky, and directed by Logan Mucha, Scattered is a new queer drama comprised of 38 x 1-minute daily episodes. It was co-written by Mucha, Kate Darrigan and Adolfo Aranjuez, and was filmed on location in Melbourne.
Film Victoria CEO Caroline Pitcher said, “Moving, diverse and beautifully shot, Scattered has set the bar high for Australian TikTok series. We can’t wait to see audiences embrace this heartfelt screen story and we encourage more Victorian creative teams to take the leap into vertical production.”
The series had built an eager audience well in advance of it’s release, having gained 41,800 followers, 242,600 likes and more than 1500 comments.
Screen Australia’s latest podcast episode: Making Scripted Content for TikTok features Scattered producers Hayley Adams and Michelle Melky as they talk about the game changing platform. TikTok’s algorithm is a huge part of the production journey as it relies on the positive interaction of users for momentum and the potential for a massive audience. According to Screen Australia’s Caris Bizzaca, Adams says,” It’s part of why TikTok is a promising app for filmmakers, because it’s designed to get your content viewed.”
