Resources for approaching Australian First Peoples’ themes in your drama classroom with culturally safe and responsible practice.
Narragunnawali
Narragunnawali supports all schools and early learning services in Australia to develop environments that foster a high level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.
The Narragunnawali online platform is free to access and provides practical ways to introduce meaningful reconciliation initiatives in the classroom, around the school and with the community.
Through the Narragunnawali platform, schools and early learning services can develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and teachers and educators can access professional learning and curriculum resources to support the implementation of reconciliation initiatives.

Teaching First Nations Content and Concepts
In 2016 Kamarra Bell-Wykes commenced development of a comprehensive educational arm of ILBIJERRI, alongside much needed research and guidelines for engaging First Nations cultural content within the education sector.
These guidelines were developed over several years and were delivered with the assistance of Rachel Forgasz (Monash University), Danielle Hradsky (Monash University), in partnership with Drama Victoria. The resulting resource document for teachers remains a well-utilised pack.

Integrating Indigenous Perspectives
The significance of this research points to the importance for pre-service drama teachers to be given tools to ensure that their praxis breaks the generational cycle of insufficient teaching of Indigenous perspectives in Australian schools, a cycle that has disadvantaged Indigenous children since colonisation.
