PRODUCERS OF THE FUTURE
Posted by Team APATA | May 11, 2023
AI, CHATGPT, NFTs, VR, Web3… the future is now and students and emerging and established practitioners are on the path to creating digital platform content and creative projects in revolutionary ways.
What is the Metaverse?
According to McKinsey.com article, What is the metaverse? “The Metaverse is an evolution of today’s internet….a convergence of digital technology to combine and extend the reach and use of cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), spatial computing, and more.”
Whether Ready Player One or the Terminator movies come to mind, there is no denying that the traditional ways of sharing stories and community building will include platforms that connect us like never before.
The Metaverse and Production
Brett Ineson’s article How Virtual Production and the Metaverse are Evolving Together (Motionographer.com) explains that “Virtual production is already transforming how creative content is made, and the metaverse is increasingly becoming a consideration for creators. Much of the same technology and techniques can be applied to both realms, empowering creators and delivering joy to people everywhere.”
Projection Designer David Forsee’s essay on Howlround.com, Practical Artificial Intelligence Stage Design compares the introduction of AI to “the workflow enhancements and new possibilities that computer-assisted drawing or electric lighting offered theatre.”
