Pacific Opera Young Artist Scholarships

Pacific Opera invites young singers across Australia to apply for the 2022 program, which will be led by esteemed Co-Artistic Directors, Peter Coleman-Wright AO and Cheryl Barker AO.

In 2022 Pacific Opera will be accepting Young Artists aged 20-32 all supported by a $5,000 scholarship. Entry to the Program is by audition only.

​Please note that due to the Corona virus pandemic, all applicants should be New South Wales residents for the entirety of 2022. Auditions will be held in person only and not via video submission. For more information please contact Mikayla Tate on 0438 896 969 or email admin@pacificopera.com.au.

Application ​Requirements

Applications will close at midnight AEST on Sunday  31 October 2021. We will acknowledge the receipt of your audition application by email and our auditions manager will be in touch to arrange a time.

You will be asked to supply a number of documents and responses in the application form, as such applicants are encouraged to open and read the application form prior to applying  so that they can prepare appropriately. There is a $50 audition fee which is payable at the completion of your application.

Audition Requirements

Applicants will be asked to prepare three (3) arias in their original key and language. These selections should reflect where you are now in your stage of development and show the panel your strengths.

All auditions will be accompanied by Pacific Opera’s Music Director, Bradley Gilchrist. As a result of Covid-19 and in a hope to limit contact, there will not be an opportunity to rehearse with the accompanist prior to the auditions. Repertoire should be sent to Bradley via email at least 7 days before your audition and may include any timing or cut markings you need.

​Please note, the audition venue does not have a space suitable for warming up. Singers are advised to come to their audition having warmed up at home.
