Story Studios Australia runs creative school holiday programs that are all uniquely designed to immerse young writers into worlds, themes, genres, characters and more. You will regularly see epic days of mystery, screenwriting days for teens, days full of magic and fantasy, creative days of mythology, and even collaborations, with past event partners such as Ukiyo, Melbourne’s top escape room and Writers Victoria at The Wheeler Centre!

In January 2025, the team is diving into Myths, Maps, and Maestros—a treasure trove of creativity and adventure!

In the week starting on January 6th young writers will gather in the Carlton studio and explore mummies and witches, clash with titans, or unlock the mysteries of faeries and zombies.

Witches – Tuesday, 7th Jan | 8-12 Year Olds

Titans – Wednesday, 8th Jan | 8-12 Year Olds

Færies – Thursday, 9th Jan | 10-14 Year Olds

Zombies – Friday, 10th Jan | 8-12 Year Olds

In the week starting Monday 13th January – week two of programs – young writers will chart new territory: journeying through the Astronomer’s Tower, stirring up tales in the Castle Kitchen, or taking flight with Dragon Riders.

Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio/Story Studios Australia exists to inspire and nurture a lasting love of stories and storytelling. The team works with young and emerging creative writers, who are just starting out, right through to experienced writers who are looking for community, accountability or a fresh perspective. They take a mentoring approach (as opposed to a teaching only approach) towards imparting skills, knowledge and to sharing their passion. As such group sizes are small and courses are tailored, fun and immersive.

Be it through a young writers’ Story Writing Group or Private Mentorship, a holiday program, school program, or one of our adult courses, workshops or events – every single one of our programs is grounded in expanding confidence, creativity and community.

The Melbourne Young Writers’ Studio works with and welcomes every kind of creative writer and storyteller.
