Get Ready – Audition Preparation and Presentation

Posted by Team APATA | May 19, 2022

Dr Linda Sastradipradja [NICA] and Kalman Warhaft [Melbourne Institute of Dance] are back and ready to get to work!

After delivering the What are our Potentials for 2022 Workshop earlier this year, Linda and Kalman have returned to tackle the challenge of auditions.

Auditions – sometimes the word alone is enough to scare any student.

We love performing arts, we want to be a part of it, and for those who want to be on stage, on camera, or in the ring auditions come part and parcel with the territory.

Dr Linda Sastradipradja and Kalman Warhaft combine their years of experience in this 1.5hr workshop that helps you GET YOUR STUDENTS AUDITION READY!

Together Kalman and Linda will help discuss and demonstrate:

Clarity

  • Identify the key points that audition holders are looking for.
  • Devising the clearest choreography, costuming, staged perspectives (live and videoed) and descriptions.

Expectations

  • Understanding the auditioner’s/examiner and the student’s expectations.
  • Creating a connecting bridge between them.
  • Managing conflicting expectations.

Adaptability

  • Providing students with a resilient and realistic approach to their dance training.
  • Develop skills for adapting to differing situations.

Presentation

  • Selecting skills that can be confidently executed under stressful situations with confidence.
  • Incorporating their skills choreographically or otherwise.

What are your concerns and questions about auditions?

At the end of the presentation Kalman and Linda will answer your pre-submitted FAQ – Those questions and concerns you have about the audition process. Perhaps you have a particular audition coming up and there is something you need to decipher? Please send it through via the link below.
