Circus Stars Professional Development Series: July 2021

Posted by Circus Stars | Jun 17, 2021

Dr Kristy Seymour is the Director and Head Trainer at Circus Stars a specially designed circus training program for children with autism.

Founded in 2013 Circus Stars was the very first circus school in the world to be dedicated to children on the autism spectrum. Circus Stars classes are inclusive, creative, risky and challenging all in a fun and supportive gentle environment and in 2017 Circus Stars was awarded an Autism Queensland Creative Futures Recognition award.

Each year Dr Seymour runs a series of professional development workshops to teach practitioners working with children with autism how to apply the successful and effective Circus Stars method to achieve results. This series is open to circus trainers, social workers, occupational therapists, physios, speech therapists and practitioners of all kinds working with the autism community.

It provides both theoretical and practical knowledge in best practice for using circus training techniques to achieve successful outcomes in the physical, social and emotional development of kids with autism.

Over two intensive days you will be taken through the theoretical and practical methods and the philosophy of why and how circus works. On day two you will also take part in a workshop for children on the spectrum, shadowing Kristy in the process, giving you a chance to apply the techniques you have learned and to receive feedback and support in how to apply this in your own practice.

Circus Stars Professional Development series is now open for bookings!

The series is split into two parts: theory and practical. Theory will run via Zoom and the practical component will run on at the Circus Stars venue.
