AMEB Online Orchestra 2021
Sep 29, 2020The Australian Music Examinations Board releases their song for the AMEB Online Orchestra 2021 this Thursday, 1 October, 2020 at 1pm.
The AMEB Online Orchestra is Australia’s largest virtual orchestra that provides an inclusive performance opportunity like no other to instrumentalists and singers from all over the world. 2021 will welcome a newly commissioned piece written by Yugambeh Songwoman Candace Kruger, Indigenous Ethnomusicologist, Lann Levinge and Isobella Kruger.
‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ is based on an Aboriginal lullaby sung by Lottie Eaton [nee Levigne] to both Candace and Lann. “Lottie’s wish was to have ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ passed on and shared, so I am delighted that through the Yugambeh Youth Aboriginal Corporation’s partnership with the Australian Music Examinations Board, we can fulfil this request. Alongside my cousin Lann Levinge, my daughter Isobella Kruger and Blessed by our Elders, we hope that through the ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ songline people enjoy learning the narrative of our people”.
Register for this Thursday’s AMEB information webinar on ZOOM to hear from Candace Kruger of the Yugambeh Youth Aboriginal Corporation and Yugambeh Youth Choir and Lann Levinge about ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ and the AMEB Online Orchestra collaboration – and to see the video featuring the Yugambeh Youth Choir.
