Award 04. The Meskell Award – Honorary Award

‘The Meskell Award’ recognises significant achievement, distinction, and outstanding service in the performing arts. The Meskell Award is an honorary award acknowledging extraordinary contribution and leadership in performing arts education.

The Meskell Award is open to performing arts education practice and special services provided for the performing arts, for example, social change maker, well-being, excellence in education, etc. The Meskell Award is for an individual or organisation who has made a significant difference in performing arts education.

APATA’s Honorary Award is given at the discretion of the judging committee and is not necessarily awarded every year.

Performing Arts education focus can be a combination of performing arts disciplines or a stand-alone area of specialisation.

  • All entrants are required to respond to the ‘Selection Criteria’ that provide judges with context (1,000 words max).
  • Please include attachments and links in your application that support your ‘Selection Criteria’ response and demonstrate the individuals body of work and contribution in the performing arts. This may include, although not limited to, letters of support, testimonials, program overview, individual curriculum vitae, images, career overview, links to video clips, etc.
  • Peer nominations and self-nominated entries will be accepted.
  • APATA membership can be held in any category, except ‘Student Membership Level’ to enter this award category.

    • School Membership – Primary & Secondary / Performing Arts Schools or Studios (private ownership) / Higher Education
    • Industry Membership – Arts Companies / Organisations / Business / Venues
